Heartburn. Chest pain. Coughing and breathing discomfort. We’ve all experienced it after a particularly good bowl of chili or too much coffee in the morning. But it is only heartburn, or a sign of something more dangerous? Whether it is acute or chronic, acid reflux also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) -Is not comfortable and can cause serious problems and complications down the road as well as significant amounts of pain and discomfort in the short term.
Acid reflux is usually triggered by the food we eat, however, and a person’s diet is a big factor in how painful condition can be. Here are some foods that trigger heartburn

Also stay away from foods with sauce, heavy cream, meat drippings and butter, avoid indulging in pies, cookies, cakes and ice and eliminate snacking on potato chips.

By eating foods where heat-inducing ingredients such as spices and chili peppers used regularly, such as Indian, Mexican and Chinese food, ask that the food be cooked as mild as possible. Some other spices to stay away from include Cajun seasoning, curry powder and some form of pepper, from mild pepper to hot jalapenos and habaneros.
Fatty / fried foods

Finally, swathing food in sauces, oils, heavy cream, meat drippings and butter also turns a food to an acid plant. South American food is often guilty of this and can be transformed into tasty, low-fat versions.
On a particular risk for acid reflux is caffeine addicts and people who drink alcohol. Although integrated in our culture, coffee, tea and soft drinks are all acidic beverages that can cause problems in a patient with chronic acid reflux. Alcohol also in hydrochloric acid and relaxes esophageal sphincter, making it easier for acid to escape into the esophagus. Rubin also says that a diet high in neutral foods like wheat bread, lean meats and baked potatoes can help reduce acid reflux. Reflux vulnerable people can snack on apples, carrots, spinach and other non-acidic and fresh vegetables.
