Ozone is a composite consisting of three oxygen atoms in contrast to the two atoms of atmospheric oxygen. It is an unstable, reactive materials which readily oxidizes organic material.
Many public water utilities use ozone in the water disinfection process. It is relatively green, producing some byproducts, and is very effective in destroying waterborne pathogens.
Use of ozone generators in the home to provide ozonated water for health purposes is gaining popularity. Ozonated water can be produced at home, so it can be consumed or used within 10 minutes of production for some health benefits to be seen.
Proponents of ozonated water say it attacks harmful bacteria, and that people who drink have more energy and are more ready-thinking. It can also be used on skin wounds and psoriasis way hydrogen peroxide will be used to inhibit surface infections and promote healing
Water ozonator (corona types are the most effective) Air diffuser (preferably glass or chemically neutral material) Glass container.
Turn on the ozonator device and run a self-test if the device has this feature.
Pour the cold water in a glass container. The amount of water you want to ozonate determines the time spent. Plan two hours ozonation per gallon of water to be ozonated. Scale quantity down for shorter production runs.
Insert ozonator’s spreading stone in the glass container with cold water. Observer bubbles. An intact diffuser will emit a cloud of small (pinhead-size or smaller) bubbles that enables ozone to be absorbed in the water. A damaged stone will release larger bubbles, and most of the produced ozone will pass through the water unabsorbed.
Turn the ozonator when ozonation process is complete and remove disperse stone. Do not let ozonator running, pumping ozone into your living room.
Drink or otherwise use the ozonated water within 10 minutes at the end of the process for maximum efficiency.
Tips and Warnings
Cold water will absorb and retain ozone longer than warm water.
Ozone generators (particularly corona generators) use high voltages. Do not spray water or opening a charged ozonator. Ozone is a potentially toxic compound. Follow all safety instructions attached to the generator manual.
