This will tell you how many calories you need to take everyday. Even if you think this figure seems high, do not go below your resting energy EVER. Called famine and chronic hunger can lead to serious health problems.
For example I’ll use a 30 year old woman who is 5 meters 6 inches tall and weighs 148 pounds.
Weigh yourself in kilograms, if you can weigh yourself in kilograms weigh yourself in pounds and walk with 0. 452.
148 * 0.452 = 67 kg (I rounded here)
Measure your height in centimeters. If you can not measure yourself in centimeters using inches and multiply by 2.54.
5 ft 6 in = 66 in * 2.54 = 167.6 cm
Now we calculate our resting energy needs by multiplying these factors by constants
RER = 655 + (9.6 * weight in kg) + (1.8 * height in cm) -. (4. 7 * age in years)
Our example woman
RER = 655 + (9.6 * 67) + (1.8 * 167. 6) – (4.7 * 30)
655 + 643.2 + 301.7 to 141
Our example woman burns a little over 1,700 calories each day just maintain their bodily functions.
