Electrophysiology is the study of how electricity works with body cells and tissues. field primarily focused on the electrical rhythms of the heart, also known as cardiac electrophysiology, but electrophysiologists also focus their attention on the electrical impulses that nerves transport. on a microscopic scale, some electrophysiologists study the activity of ions and proteins in the cells. In practice, however, applies to most of the electrophysiology with correction of cardiac disorders as arrhythmias and certain types of tachycardia.
electrocardiograms (EKGs or EKG) can also be used to identify the cause of an arrhythmia. it is less than ideal, however, because it provides some insight into the nature an arrhythmia unless the arrhythmia occurs during the test, which it rarely does. one electrophysiology study involving an ECG when, actually provoke an arrhythmia.
an EEG (electroencephalogram) is another type of electrophysiological testing. This test is taken to measure the electrical function of the brain. in this test, electrodes placed on the head and connected to a computer that records the electrical activity of the brain.
