The theory behind the Water Diet is that when cold water is ingested, the body burns extra calories to heat the water up to a body temperature of 98.6 degrees F. The colder the water, the harder the body works to heat the water. Therefore, the more calories get burned if a dieter drinking very cold water. In addition, drinking water in between or with meals gives dieters a feeling of fullness, making them less likely to eat. Because the kidneys have to work to treat the water, it is also said that the water Diet results in toxins are flushed from the body.
How Diet works
On Water Diet, the dieter drink 64 oz. of cool or cold water for eight 8-oz. portions during the day, with or without food, in addition to the dieter’s normal fluid intake.
