The human body goes through ups and downs during each day. When you choose to snack smart, it keeps your energy up and prevent you from packing on empty calories. It’s harder than a trip to the vending machine, or a trip through the drive through, but it’s the best way to snack

stave off hunger pains. Snack smart every 1 to 2 hours to keep hunger away. When you reach the stage where you are ready to gnaw off your own arm, you’ll probably end up eating too much.

Cut up fruits and vegetables every day. The simple high fat prepackaged food is what makes them so popular. Keep fruits and vegetables cut up in the fridge for a smart snack at noon or at night.

Carry almonds with you. They may be higher in fat than some other foods, but protein and fiber make you feel full longer. Eat 10-15 almonds as a smart snack instead of an easy-to-grab candy bar.

Keep it natural. Smart snacks is key to good health. Eat lots of legumes, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Get an apple and top it with a little nut butter for a midday snack. Another common idea is a nice fruit smoothie with oats or whole grain mixed in.

Steer clear of trans fats. Read labels and put back something about this unacceptable ingredient. These fats raise bad cholesterol and lower good cholesterol.

Try new things. Keep an open mind when it comes to snacks. Snack smart with yogurt and fruit or granola, try edamame with a little pepper or cottage cheese with fruit or nuts. These things may sound gross, but you may be very surprised.
