Hmmmm what can I say. It was a horrible eating weekend especially Sunday because the game was on. Ended up eating nachos and chicken…yummy but so not good for the waist line.
I did get to exercise. Friday I did day 3 of the squat training program. I did 142 total (sets 1-4) and 80 consecutive squats. This time I didn’t have Xander for the extra resistance (he was asleep). It was tough even without Xander but I am quite confident that by Friday I should be able to do 100 consecutive squats.
Sunday I went to the YMCA (more on this later) and while the boys went to the pool (it was xander’s first time) I went upstairs to the workout room and did some interval training on the treadmill for 30 mins and then switched to the cross trainer for 20 mins. It was a good burn. I also got a good look at the circuit machines since I want to try and incorporate that into my routine.
I’m not dwelling on the gain. I’m moving past it! I’m strong and this week will be better than the last!

So yesterday was week 1, day 2 of the 200 squat 6 week training program. Such a killer. I did 55 consecutive squats and 110 squats total while using Xander as extra resistance (he’s 17.5 lbs) He loved every minute of it while by the time I got to the last 10 squats my legs were on fire! After I caught my breathe I went in and got some high-fives from the family because I did 25 squats over my initial test and 10 squats over my Monday max.
After I dressed made my way to my Zumba class. We had a black out in the neighborhood so class started late which allowed me to stretch a bit. Our instructor making up for lost time worked us hard. I was exhausted by the time I got home. I know it’s only the 2nd day but I’m happy at my progress. I go into the squats with a set range in my head that I want to achieve for my max. It’s usually about a 10 digit spread and I’m happy with completing any amount of squats that fall between said range. I could probably do more but the added weight of Xander (whom also gets lifted up over my head when I stand up..thus working my arms) makes it more difficult.
I had Tony take new before pictures but I can’t find camera so I’ll have to do a separate post sometime next week.

First of today is a great day. 1st reason my baby Xander is 4 months today (times flies please cherish it). 2nd reason is because we are celebrating a great man Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Now let’s get into it.

So this is pretty much what I expected. Friday I was home with my 1st son because in the middle of the night he puked all over everything and then didn’t stop puking until the next day. Then my step-father after months of me asking finally sent over my sweet potato pie. Then we had pizza for dinner. That was just the beginning of my horrible weekend eating. I did tons of housework but no real exercise so that attributed to the low number also.
I’m partially fine with it. I mean I can’t do anything about it now. Just have to realize what went wrong and remedy it prior to attacking this weekend. I wish it were easier to get out on the weekend but it’s officially FRIGID in Boston now so baby and I going out will not happen. I mean this morning it was 6 degrees! That type of cold makes you avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary.
This week I start the 200 squats training program You can go check out the website but basically it’s a training program that will hopefully at the end of 6 weeks have you being able to do 200 consecutive squats. 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) you do 5 sets of varying amounts of squats. The fifth set is actually somewhat of a test to see how many squats you can max out on. So each day I do the program I will post my max squats done just to track my progress. I did the initial test Thursday and I was about to do 32 squats consecutively. Tonight I do day 1 week 1.

First of all Happy Black history month
Second of all:
Yay it’s February! We are getting closer to Spring and to saying goodbye to all this snow. Seriously it’s been ridiculous in Boston the past say month. For Jan I think we hit something like 40 inches of snow. Woke up this morning and we are expecting up to 20 in over the next 2 days. So that has been life. Shoveling, grumbling, shoveling some more. Because of the snow I have also not had zumba my regular 3 times a week and it’s shown. Usually I only have to will myself to exercise 2-3 days (i love zumba so much I never have an issue getting myself there) but since I have been only having zumba once a week for the past 3 weeks, getting myself amped up to exercise the other 5-6 days hasn’t been going so well. Because of that I decided I need some goals to work towards.
Goals aka Operation Get it Right,Get it tight:
Run 3 times a week for up to 30 mins (following c25k and some interval training)
Run/walk 60 miles for the month
work out 6 days a week
work out twice a day at least 2 days a week
Do push ups (starting with 5 and working my way up until the end of the month..adding 2 more reps every week) every night
These are some pretty hefty goals but I feel like all are totally doable. I think I said this before but I have a mini goal of losing 20lbs by May 29th (my bday) so this is definitely giving me a jump start! I am pretty excited and can’t wait to start tonight!
~Randi
P.S. I am taking a starting pictures as well as starting measurements tonight.
Do you have any specific goals for February?

Hello October! Too bad since it’s 75 degrees in Boston it doesn’t feel like October. I am so ready for sweaters, hot chocolate, and fall foliage. Global warming isn’t trying to hear that apparently. Either way it’s a new month and I am excited! I have a few new things in the works.
#1: I have finally decided to do my first 5k!!!! In fact I start my training today. I’m excited and nervous. I was going to start c25k again but I really really don’t feel like doing that. So instead I am going to pick up where I left off which was Week 5 Day 3. So essentially starting with week 6 day 1 which I believe is a 20 min run. I haven’t run 20 mins in a while so we will see how that goes.
I haven’t chosen which 5k I am going to do since Tony will also be running it with me so we have to find something that fits our weekend work schedule. So far I have 3 in mind that we can do so hopefully one of them will work for us.
#2: (This totally relates to #1.) I have joined the October Go the Distance challenge over at Fat Girl vs World’s blog. I have pledged to run 50 miles in the month of October. gain *cue nervousness*. I will also add a little widget on the side of my blog so you can see my mileage.
Those two things together should make for a great October. Now I just need the weather to cooperate. Running in heat is horrid to me. It seems that even though I feel like I can keep running, the fact that I am breathing in super hot air makes me feel like I am trapped under a cover and cannot breathe. I know it’s a mind thing but I cannot seem to get over it. I think the cold weather will help me out in that aspect. I have already started mapping out my runs around my neighborhood.
This is one of the things I have been wanting to check off my list for a while now so I am extremely determined to make this happen before years end. Depending on which 5k we choose I have between 8-11 weeks to get up to par. My main goal is to be able to run the whole 5k with out stopping in at least 40-45 mins. I’m not a fast runner so I don’t see me finishing any earlier.
I can’t wait to go home and get started! Wish me luck!!!!

Thoughts
I wish I could say that I worked so hard this past week. I wish I could say I pushed my self to new limits. I wish I could say that I tracked daily. I didn’t do any of those things. In fact I did the bare minimum. I don’t know why. Life was only kinda hectic so that isn’t an excuse. I just wasn’t feeling it. I ate well which I think directly attributed to me actually losing weight. I fully expected to stay the same as last week. Imagine my surprise that even after I stepped on the scale 3 more times (to make sure) it still read that same number.
I’m not gonna let this freak of nature week get me into a bad place. It would be very easy to sit her and think that I could replicate this every week even though I know I cannot. So that means today I will be either going to the gym or making sweet running love to my treadmill while watching Television.
This is my 5th week of the Drop that 15lbs challenge and my 5th week of steadily losing. I am really hoping to keep this streak going so I will be going hard (or medium depending how I feel) all week.
I decided to participate in Friend Makin’ Mondays. I originally saw this on All the Weigh.
1) If you could magically change one thing about your body, what would it be? I had to think about this really hard and I’d have to say I’d get rid of the skin discoloration on my left leg.
2) What is your best physical feature? My smile hands down. I love my smile I feel like it’s infectious.
3) Do you weigh yourself daily? Hourly? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Never? I weigh in once a week on Mondays. I may weigh myself in the middle of the week or on a random day but I never let those weigh in skew how I am feeling.
4) Do you workout regularly? If so, how does if affect you from day to day? I strive to work out 6 days a week, 45 mins a day. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn’t. To me as long as I get moving for at least 30 mins I count it as a win.
5) What is the healthiest thing you do for yourself on a regular basis? Water, Water and more water. It’s my main beverage. I usually only have an 8ounce cup of juice with dinner.
6) If you could look like a celebrity, who would you choose to look like? I personally wouldn’t want to look like any celebrity.
7) What do you do to make yourself feel pretty/handsome? Get my hair done or my eyebrows done. Those 2 things make such a difference in the way I feel. Even my bf has noticed how happy I am when those two things are done.
What are you most attracted to in the opposite sex? A great smile, strong arms, the ability to feel comfortable in any situation and the ability to have a conversation about anything.
9) Have you ever avoided situations because you didn’t want people to see your body shape? No, I am probably too confident and I think it’s a defense mechanisms. I kinda refuse to be the sad fat girl that people expect me to be.
10) How do you feel about your overall appearance? I feel great about my appearance. Things are getting tighter and my shape is coming back. Looking at old pictures I find it amazing that I never actually saw myself. I didn’t realize I was that big. I thought I looked great then so I know I look even better now. My main focus though is how I feel physically. I feel myself getting stronger and I love it!

Today is the halfway point for the DROP THAT 15LBS CHALLENGE. Woo hoo I made it! Really that’s all I can say. In that 30 days I have managed to lose 6lbs in 30 days. This is such a confidence booster and I am really amped. If you look at my progress chart you will notice I never go 4 straight weeks where I lose weight each week. Why? I have no idea but I almost always meet a weekend where I cannot resist the urge to eat more and not exercise. It’s a problem I have chronicled throughout my time writing this blog. It’s actually really my last hurdle.
This morning I was off from work and instead of laying in my bed and enjoying the warmth I changed & popped in Jillian Micheals. I serious had no desire to do her DVD. I initially wanted to run but someone lost my little failsafe button and the treadmill won’t work without it (btw does anyone know where I can purchase a new one?) The thought of running outside when everyone was awake frankly scared me. I know I look scary when I run bc towards the end I feel like I am about to die. Between griiting my teeth/swearing and damn near being in tears it’s just not cute. So me and Ms. Jillian got down and dirty for 45 mins. I swear as soon as I hit the 3rd circuit I was curing her. Thankfully I stuck with it and ended up burning almost 700 calories.
After catching my breath I seriously did a little dance because that scenario is exactly why I have been so successful the past 4 weeks. Despite the fact that I may not want to do something, I am doing it! That in and of itself makes it super fulfilling.
Let’s hope the next 30 days are just as good!

Challenge Updates
SEPTSuccess: I stuck to my goal of working out 6 days a week. I worked out both Saturday and Sunday! Which if you have been following this blog know that weekend are notoriously horrible for me food and exercise wise. I ran another full 15 min mile on the treadmill, took a 3 mins walk break and then did it again! Yippee..towards the end of the 2nd round I started getting the mean cramp when I only had about 2 mins to go. I breathed through it and was happy when the 2 mins were finished. Then tony and I went on to do a great strength training routine. I love doing it with Tony because he really gives me the motivation to keep going when I don’t think I can make it through another 10 reps.
I have decided to add another goal to this SEPTSuccess Challenge. I want to burn at least 1000 each day I work out. The only day I do that now is on my Wednesday Zumba class so I would love to do that each day I work out. I am usually around 500-800 so I believe it shouldn’t be that hard.
Drop that 15lbs Challenge:Last week was a great week for me. Kim posted about drinking more water,de-stressing and limiting alcohol.
6 flags Update:
If you read my post from Sunday about Six flags and my fear of not being able to fit on any roller coasters then you know how terrified I was driving to Six Flags yesterday morning. I couldn’t get the knot of nervousness from the pit of my stomach. Well I am happy to report that I fit comfortably on every roller-coaster in the park. The only coaster I didn’t get on was the Bizarro and that was only because my boys were not too keen on it. It just looked super crazy to them and they weren’t feeling that adventurous. I was sooo excited and happy. The first ride we got on when we entered the park was a wooden roller coaster.
I would have liked a bit more um wiggle room in the seats but it worked out. My Hips/Thighs of death felt a bit snug but other than that coaster and the other wooden one, all others were fine. I didn’t feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I am so happy I went and decided to enjoy myself. I even warned my boys and Tony that my hips/thighs of death may not fit into some of the rides. We spent 7 hours in the park and when we got home we were all exhausted. I really can’t wait to go back. I have decided to make that my reward for 75lbs lost!!!
I’d like to thank Pro & Big Mike for their encouraging words! They helped me more than you know.

I was supposed to post this yesterday on you know the 1st of September but eh…I guess I am trying to be different or I was just being lazy..lol.
I am so excited for September. The weather should be cooling down (even though it’s been 90 or above in Boston all freaking week!). My kids go back to school (yes, finally a schedule), the leaves start to change and it just feels like a new beginning. I don’t know about all of you but I feel super energized. I feel like this month is the start of something great.
I did Zumba last night ALONE. My mother was super tired from working overnight and then having to see some clients during the day. Then a few other people who were supposed to come dropped out. I almost didn’t go because I really hate doing things alone. I don’t know why it’s just the way I am. What’s funny is not alot of people know that since I do lots of things alone. I literally force myself to do things alone and just end up having a super nervous stomach until about halfway into whatever activity I am doing. I love Zumba so much though so I had Tony drop me off. I ended up running into one of my besties sister and her neice. That made me feel a bit better. Zumba kicked my butt. I really wish I could take it 2-3 more days a week. I may have to invest in some Zumba DVD’s.
To Kick start my September I joined yet another challenge (and I am thinking of joining a 3rd challenge). As you know I am already doing the Drop that 15 lbs challenge. For September I decided to add the Healthy Loser Gal’s September Success Challenge. Basically it’s a challenge that ask you to ask more of yourself. Do more than you would normally would. If you usually walk 60 mins a day, try walking 75 mins. If you usually only exercise for 30 mins a day, try an hour. It also about setting up how many days you wish to exercise for the month.
My pledge for this challenge is to exercise for an hour and a half 6 days a week. (I usually do an hour for 5 days a week). I’m shooting for 24 days out of 31 for exercise. This will certainly help me with getting exercise on the weekend which I almost never do.
I also have a new mini-goal. When I weight in September 27th I am trying to hit 242 lbs. That’s about 1.5 lbs a week which seems totally do-able. Can’t wait to hit the gym tonight to get started!

Happy New Year all!
Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday, it was my last day of vacation and I refused to even touch the computer. Anyways I am back at work and on the grind. Before I say anything else lets get this Final December Challenge weigh in out of the way.
Stats
Starting blog weight : 279
Last weeks weight: 270.5
This weeks weight: 269.5
Total lost this week: 1 lb
Total loss for December Challenge: 4.5 lbs
Yesterday as I stood on the scale looking at 269.5 I seriously did the cabbage-patch and then when I jumped off the scale I proceeded to do the running man! Hell yea..I am excited and happy even though I didn’t fully achieve my goal. Shoot I am only.5 lbs away so guess what that is damn near goals..I will celebrate.
I have only 2 weeks left until I am finished with my 6 weeks of Jillian Michael’s BURN FAT BOOST METABOLISM so I plan to start another challenge as soon as that is over. I am currently racking my brain to come up with some specifics for this challenge, stay tuned.
I am pretty excited about what I have accomplished over the past 2 months and it really has me geared up for the new year. I have 2 very important things I am trying to plan for the near future and I would really love to be celebrating my weight loss along with those 2 very important things.
I go to the doctor in about 2 weeks also & I believe it’s for a physical so I will be able to get quite a few tests done and have those results sent to me in order to be able to compare them later down the line. The last time I went to my doctor she said that my blood pressure was a bit high, I am hoping when she checks this time it will be normal or at least a bit better. I really don’t want to take pills, I can barely remember my bc pill without a daily alarm. Also I want to see what my doctor is going to say about my weight loss. Last time I went I believe I was about 286 and she was all “oh you should lose weight” blah blah. She’s a cool doctor but yea she’s a bit rotund herself so getting health advice from her is like “poof be gone”. I know, I know her weight shouldn’t effect my thinking but it does.
My eating has been going well. I am using my food scale more and more. Since I am usually the one making the plates at dinner I usually weigh my food first and then make everyone else’s plate similar. Passing on the health to the whole family! I love that my boys love fruits and veggies so I never have to threaten coax a child into eating them. I want to try and introduce some new fruits and veggies into our diets, our dinners usually have either broccoli, sweet peas, corn, or spinach as a side. So as of now I am on the look out.
Do you have any suggestions into new veggies I can try? Have any recipes? Let me know.
