2012 GOALS

Happy New Year everyone!

I rang in the new year surround by my boys! It was a joyous occasion. I’ve been enjoying quite a few days so I am just now getting around to writing my 2012 goals.

Weight Loss Goals

Long term weight loss goal 104 lbs

Short term weight goal: get back to pre pregnancy weight (240lbs)

Short term (weekly) Goal: I am aiming for a solid 2 lb loss every week. I figure my first go round I was able to on average lose 1lb a week I should be able to average 2 lbs each week.

in addition to aid in the 2 goals above I also want to:

Take measurements monthly

Take progress photos monthly

Fitness Goals

Pushups: Right now I can do 1 real push up and omg it kills me. By the end of 2012 I want to be able to do at least 10 good form pushups

Pullups: Ha pull ups my arm muscles cry when I think about doing a pull up. I want to be able to do 5

Running: I really want to get into running again with the ultimate goal this year of running at least a 5k (or 2).

Short term running goal: Run 1.5 miles straight by April 1st

Plank: I want to be able to hold a plank for at least 1-2 mins

Try a new exercise monthly

Track exercise daily

Get at least 15-20 mins of daily exercise!

Eating Goals

Aim to eat “clean” 75% of the time.

Cut out sweets (since I’ve been preggo I’ve craved something sweet daily!)

Track my food daily.

So there you go. It’s been written

What are your goals for 2012?

February Goals aka Operation Get it right,Get it tight

First of all Happy Black history month

Second of all:

Yay it’s February! We are getting closer to Spring and to saying goodbye to all this snow. Seriously it’s been ridiculous in Boston the past say month. For Jan I think we hit something like 40 inches of snow. Woke up this morning and we are expecting up to 20 in over the next 2 days. So that has been life. Shoveling, grumbling, shoveling some more. Because of the snow I have also not had zumba my regular 3 times a week and it’s shown. Usually I only have to will myself to exercise 2-3 days (i love zumba so much I never have an issue getting myself there) but since I have been only having zumba once a week for the past 3 weeks, getting myself amped up to exercise the other 5-6 days hasn’t been going so well. Because of that I decided I need some goals to work towards.

Goals aka Operation Get it Right,Get it tight:

Run 3 times a week for up to 30 mins (following c25k and some interval training)

Run/walk 60 miles for the month

work out 6 days a week

work out twice a day at least 2 days a week

Do push ups (starting with 5 and working my way up until the end of the month..adding 2 more reps every week) every night

These are some pretty hefty goals but I feel like all are totally doable. I think I said this before but I have a mini goal of losing 20lbs by May 29th (my bday) so this is definitely giving me a jump start! I am pretty excited and can’t wait to start tonight!

~Randi

P.S. I am taking a starting pictures as well as starting measurements tonight.

Do you have any specific goals for February?

Hello September

I was supposed to post this yesterday on you know the 1st of September but eh…I guess I am trying to be different or I was just being lazy..lol.

I am so excited for September. The weather should be cooling down (even though it’s been 90 or above in Boston all freaking week!). My kids go back to school (yes, finally a schedule), the leaves start to change and it just feels like a new beginning. I don’t know about all of you but I feel super energized. I feel like this month is the start of something great.

I did Zumba last night ALONE. My mother was super tired from working overnight and then having to see some clients during the day. Then a few other people who were supposed to come dropped out. I almost didn’t go because I really hate doing things alone. I don’t know why it’s just the way I am. What’s funny is not alot of people know that since I do lots of things alone. I literally force myself to do things alone and just end up having a super nervous stomach until about halfway into whatever activity I am doing. I love Zumba so much though so I had Tony drop me off. I ended up running into one of my besties sister and her neice. That made me feel a bit better. Zumba kicked my butt. I really wish I could take it 2-3 more days a week. I may have to invest in some Zumba DVD’s.

To Kick start my September I joined yet another challenge (and I am thinking of joining a 3rd challenge). As you know I am already doing the Drop that 15 lbs challenge. For September I decided to add the Healthy Loser Gal’s September Success Challenge. Basically it’s a challenge that ask you to ask more of yourself. Do more than you would normally would. If you usually walk 60 mins a day, try walking 75 mins. If you usually only exercise for 30 mins a day, try an hour. It also about setting up how many days you wish to exercise for the month.

My pledge for this challenge is to exercise for an hour and a half  6 days a week. (I usually do an hour for 5 days a week). I’m shooting for 24 days out of 31 for exercise. This will certainly help me with getting exercise on the weekend which I almost never do.

I also have a new mini-goal. When I weight in September 27th I am trying to hit 242 lbs. That’s about 1.5 lbs a week which seems totally do-able. Can’t wait to hit the gym tonight to get started!

Thoughts

Last week was probably the most stressful week I have had in a long time. Had a huge disagreement with someone close to me and I had the beginnings of a horrible cold. The only good thing about last week was that I finally got my huge box of fruit from bostonorganics.com . I have been eating 1 piece of fruit daily. I would eat more but both my boys love fruit so I have to share.

This week I am more determined to reach my goals. I have left my problems of last week in the past and I am ready to put pedal to the metal since I will be beach bound (as well as amusement park bound)  in about 2 weeks. I’ve never been one of those girls afraid to wear bathing suits to the beach for fear of being called the a fatty but I would most definitely feel better if I can at least hit the beach at 248 (which is my lowest weight I have been in about 5 years). Not to mention we are heading to six flags great adventure and yea I haven’t looked at or even thought about riding a roller coaster since my senior year trip in high school (Which is sadly almost 10 years ago). My thoughts on that is a whole other post (let’s just say I am silently freaking out). I just wanna feel great and losing those 3 lbs in 2 weeks will start off my vacation right.

This morning despite still having a cold tony and I decided to get our run on since it was surprisingly cool. We decided to take it easy since I was damn near coughing up a lung and we did week 2 of C25K since we both still have the podcasts on our phone. Yea well even with my cold week 2 was extremely easy (until it started to get sweltering) and I was somewhat disappointed. It also mad me happy because I was very worried that since I have stopped running that my endurance has lowered but it hasn’t. So tomorrow we are gonna do week 4 and see how that works out. All in all the run has set me on the right path. I even took and hour long brisk walk along the waterfront near my job! I’m excited for the week to come.

What are your goals for the week?

Thoughts

Wow….That is all I have to say. I thought I did particularly well last week as far as eating & exercising. Granted I didn’t track to well last week but that was mainly because I ate as a vegetarian all week so I really didn’t see the need. I never overate and I didn’t even eat a lot of junk. So really I don’t know what is going on with my body.

RUT-BUSTING TIME!

So I am stuck in a rut! It’s obvious that my body is trying to stabilize in the 250′s. For some reason or another this is comfortable for my body. Too bad I am NOT HAPPY!  All of March I have been in between 255-252. Why? I have no clue but i am currently wracking my brain trying to figure it out. I have become more lax on my tracking all foods that enter my body so my first pledge is to re-commit myself to tracking daily my calories & exercise. I also have become a bit lax on the exercise front. I have been using C25K as my only exercise but obviously it’s not enough. So my 2nd pledge is to re-vamp my exercise regimen. This will include doing more exercise in general as well as introducing new exercises in to my routine on a daily basis. I have also joined a challenge over at Nerdy Science Mommy to lose 10lbs by Memorial Day (which also happens to be 2 days after my birthday). With all these things I hope to get out of the 250′s before April is over and hopefully give my body the kickstart it needs.

C25K.

I am currently in week 4 of C25K. I have finished day 2 and tomorrow I will finish day 3. I will not lie, it is getting hard. The 5 min runs are really kinking my butt. Although I feel if I really needed to go a bit futher I believe I would be able to swing it. This is crazy to me, never did I think I’d be doing any running at all.

I don’t know if anyone was worried about me but if you were, don’t worry I am here! I haven’t abandoned my goals. I really just needed to take a break and reassess the situation.

That’s a big breakfast calorie wise but I have no afternoon snack so I needed to compensate.

Last night was great, as you see below my dinner was basically what I am eating for breakfast today. OMG it was soooo good. After eating I relaxed for a bit & then decided to do THE FIRM Cardio blast. I found my 10 lb weight and decided I was going to beast this workout. Only 2 problems, after a few reps those 10lb weights felt like 50 lbs and I remembered I hate this workout! It has too much flair, what is with all these dance type moves? What the hell is a chasay? I spent most of  the time they did the cardio without the weights trying to figure out the moves. I wasn’t totally comfortable until she started adding in punching and kicking (DAMN  TAE BO). I got through it though and while I wasn’t as tired as I usually am with Jillian or Billy I still felt the burn and that is what matters.

I have to exercise today and tomorrow because I do not know if I will be able to exercise saturday between all the running around I am going to do. It’s me and my BF’s 6 yr anniversary & we got a hotel room in Cambridge and later saturday night we are going to a new french restaurant. If the hotel’s fitness room is open I am going to try and sneak in a little 30 min run if I can. We will see what happens.

I am amped yes it’s only the 5th day but I feel like I am off to a good start. When I tried a few times before I would stop the exercise or make excuses because my heart just wasn’t into it. But I am back on my grind this time and I can’t wait to see the final results.

Oh before I go I need to post some mini goals.

by November 30th: 275

by December 30th: 271

That is a weight loss of 4 lbs each month. I feel like that is a very conservative and attainable weight loss. We shall se how it goes.
