Monday Weigh-in/Weekend Recap

Last weeks weight: 258.5

This weeks weight: 255

Total lost this week: 3.5 lb loss

Thoughts

Wow another 3 lb weight loss! I am not surprised, I really switched it up this week. A few changes were:

- no meat for 5 out of the 7 days

- 1 hour of cardio 2 out of the 7 days

- strength training 2 out of the 7 days

I think those things really made a difference since I have pretty much kept the same schedule since I started. I think my body was scrambling to figure out what was going on. Either way yippee! I only have 2 lbs to go before I hit 40 lbs lost.

Weekend Recap:

Friday: I was so excited that I didn’t have to work that I cooked up a special treat for Tony and I. I made coconut curry shrimp with mixed veggies.  It was soo good even though I didn’t have any rice to mix with it (we only had white so it was off limits). I exercised and went to bed early!

Saturday: We ordered dominos since we had 3 boys to entertain. I only ate 2 slices and 1 cinna stick. Yum it tasted so good but I definitely set a limit and stuck to it. Later that night we went to the movies with the kids to see the LIGHTENING THEIF. The kids each got an icee. The popcorn smelled yummy but my belly was starting to revolt against the pizza slices in it. We got home so late that I only did a few reps ith my 10 lb weight ,some lunges and some half push- upsand I was out like a light.

Sunday: Leftover day!!!!! I ate leftover coconut curry shrimp and some Chinese cake. Cardio just some heavy cleaning and some strength training.

I tried to wake up early this morning to get my workout in but my alarm clock played me. I set it for 6am and when it went off I set it for 6:20. How about it didn’t go off again until 7:15. I was so upset, I was trying to get in a double workout tonight. I start the 2nd part of my biggest loser workout which is the HIGH-INTENSITY workout and the BOOTCAMP. I am supposed to do them 6 days a week switching between them every other day. Maybe I’ll be a exercise beast and do them both!

Monday Weigh-In/Officially in the 250′s!!!

Today I am off of work because of President’s Day. I decided I should at least post my weigh-in before I head out for the day.

This weeks weight: 258.5

Total lost this week: 3 lb loss

Thoughts

Woooo Hooo I am officially in the 250′s. I am sooo super excited about that. *does the cabbage patch*. I most definitely expected a loss but not a 3 lbs loss. The weekend was really hard because I was either too tired to get a proper exercise session in or I was just too busy. So I focused mainly on eating right when I could (I had pizza for dinner Friday and Saturday, Horrible I know. I kept it to 1.5 pieces each day). Last night Tony and I went to dinner with friends of ours and that was the only time I splurged.

How was your weekend?

Patience

I am impatient.

I know this, I try not to be but sometimes it gets the better of me. That is how I am feeling now, impatient. I feel like I am doing well enough, losing the weight I want to lose and chugging forward to meet my fitness goals (so close to doing 1 push-up it’s exciting) . I don’t know it’s like the days aren’t moving fast enough for me. I wanna get to my halfway point already.

I know it’s ridiculous to feel this way but I cannot help it. I have 2 major things coming up. My bother in law is getting married in September and I am planning a trip with 2 friends to Mexico in October. I just want those two dates to come up so I can see how far I have come. I plan to be in the low 200′s by then. It’s exciting and agonizing at the same time….Ughhh

Enough complaining. Like I said above I am getting closer and closer to doing 1 perfect form push-up it’s insane. Also I know I said I was going to start C25K a few weeks ago but seriously I hate running on the treadmill. I am a klutz and  I have to concentrate super hard not to fall off the treadmill. It’s pathetic but seriously I don’t know how I don’t seriously hurt myself just walking. So I have put off C25K until it’s not absolutely frigid in Boston.

This coming week Tony and I are planning to go veggie. Him because he is trying to clear his system before he starts his full-out fitness regimen. He needs to lose about 50 lbs by the time his brother’s wedding comes since he is the best man. I am doing it because I have been having some serious stomach issues and I feel like I need a good fruit/veggie water cleanse to get rid of whatever toxins is reeking having on my stomach. So it’s gonna be a fun week!

Happy Valentines everyone.

Monday Weigh-In/Weekend Recap (Quickie)

I am super tired and not quite up to par to write a full recap. The weekend was a blur so there really isn’t much to say.

Stats

Starting blog weight : 279

Last weeks weight: 262.5

This weeks weight: 261.5

Total lost this week: 1 lb loss

Thoughts

I am happy with my 1 lb. I took 2 days off from exercising but I ate well and it shows.

I just finished this little measurements table yesterday so I figure I should post it. It will be added to my PROGRESS page soon.

Measurements 3/16/09 2/1/10
Neck 15″ 14.5
Bust 48″ 44
Chest 39.5″ 38
Waist 48″ 46
Hips 54″ 55
Thighs              R 35″ 34
Thighs              L 34.5″ 33.5
Upper Arm      R 17″ 15
Upper Arm      L 16.5″ 15.5
Forearm           R 11″ 10.5
Forearm           L 11″ 10.5
Calf                    R 20″ 19
Calf                    L 20″ 19.5

As you can see I first took my measurements almost over a year ago. I don’t remember why. I think I was about to start exercising again and never started. The 2nd set is from the beginning of this month. I plan to re-measure at the beginning of each month just to get another reading on my weight other than the scale (because we all know the scale will drive you insane sometimes).

I find it amazing that I actually gained an inch in my HIPS. Wtf hips, it’s like they are not trying to leave me. Granted I have always been hippy even when I was smaller but jeesh can a sista catch a break?  The most inches lost is in the boob area (which makes the bf very distraught..lol). The girls are still very much there so this as a wow moment.  Also what is up with my legs and arms having totally different measurements? Either way I like measuring myself and can’t wait to see how many inches I have lost by March.

Thoughts

Yippee! I am finally at 30 lbs lost! 250′s here I come

Friday: Leftover night! Tony, my son & I sat down to watch TERMINATOR SALVATION and eat leftover turkey meatloaf with cheesy mashed potatoes & sweet peas. After eating I have no clue what happened because I passed out while watching the movie. When I woke up I was still too tired to exercise so my son made me watch him play video games. So not fun.

Saturday: I went to work only to discover a resident left some yummy blueberry walnut bread for us. OMG this bread was so yummy I ate 2 pieces. I literally had to stop myself from eating more. Lunch was a LEAN GOURMET. I swear those things are just enough to make you angry when you are hungry. I also had a chobani yogurt. I think I am officially addicted to this greek yogurt. I was never one to like the thick yogurt but it’s something about the tangy-ness (is that spelled right?) and thick consistency that makes me never want to even look at Yoplait again. Once I got home I slept in order to get ready for the double shift that was to begin in only a few hours. I didn’t get much sleep because I had to pick up Tony. I was supposed to be able to go back home but there were some family issues. Once those were squared away we then had to get my son from his fathers house. By the time I got home I had about 1 hour to sleep before having to leave the house again.

Saturday Night/Sunday: I spent 16 hours at work. To say those hours are a blur is an understatement. I spent most of them stuck between awake and unbareably sleepy. The only good thing was I got to watch a huge chunk of season 2/ season 3 of LOST. Eating wise I feel I did pretty well. I had a bag of baby carrots that I snacked on all night. At about 2 am I ate another Lean Gourmet and right before I started the 2nd half of my double shift I had a yummy strawberry/ blackberry salad.

When I finally got home I was out like a light. Woke up around 830 when my son and step son arrived. Watched some of the Grammy’s with Tony and was ready to head back to sleep when I decided to exercise. I called my mother up and she said she would join me. So at about 1030pm we exercised our little hearts out & it felt good. After that I did some strength training for about 15 mins. I remember sitting down to take a breather before I showered and went to bed. Let’s just say I woke up this morning for work still in my workout clothes. I guess my body said enough is enough, I needed the rest.

All in all I feel like I had a great week (minus that horrible stress-filled day) and a great weekend.

Total lost this week: 0 lb loss

Thoughts

Eh, 0 lbs. This isn’t bothering me too much. I mean I had 2 weeks with big numbers. Yes I was hoping to hit 30 lbs lost by the end of January but I am not complaining because….hey, it’s not a gain! Really that is all that matters.

Friday: Takeout! That’s all I can say. We were originally supposed to go shopping for some tile but the tile place was closed. So we decided to head to the Thai food restaurant. I ordered a dish that had shrimp, chicken, veggies and wide wide noodles. Tony got pad thai and yellow curry. We also bought beef fried rice and spring rolls in case anyone else wanted some food. It was yummy but I made sure not to eat the whole thing. I saved half for Work on Saturday. I exercised even though I really did not want to. That seemed to be the trend this whole weekend.

Saturday: Work, I had my trusty Special K cereal and Oikos yogurt (Which I believe I am addicted to by the way) for breakfast and snack. Left over Thai food for lunch. I went home and debated whether I should exercise or nap. The nap won me over and I took the most wonderful, amazing 2.5 hour nap that has ever been taken! It was lovely. I picked up my son from his father since my nephew decided he was going to spend the night. I waited for my mother and we had a late night work out. I was again on the fence about working out. I just wasn’t feeling it. If it wasn’t for my mother saying she would do it with me I don’t think I would have done it. After  we finished exercising I introduced my mother to PLANKS! She had never heard of them so I showed her what they were and found out I am a weakling. I was only able to stay up about 11 secs. She did her first plank and was able t stay up 31 secs! WTC is that? Beat by my almost 50 yr old mom. We already know in my head I was scheming because now I need to be able to do my plank for at least 32 secs to feel accomplished. I mean what can I say I am competitive! She said she is going to do them more often. She is always looking for exercises to strengthen her stomach muscles. She’s had  2 C-sections, 1 hernia operation and 1 general stomach operation. So 4 operations in which they cut through her tummy muscles leaving her with pretty weak stomach muscles.

Sunday: Special K and Oikos for breakfast. A yummy turkey and swiss on a brioche roll. On my lunch break I took a little walk through the mall and a bit outside just to get some air. As soon as I stepped foot in the house I did my final Burn Fat, Boost metabolism workout. This time I used my 3 lb weights! Wow my arms hurt. While Tony was sleeping I decided to try and do a push-up. Why..I have no clue. I was sitting on my bed watching SPEED (love that movie even though it’s so ridiculous) and I got up, put my sneaks on and proceeded to try and do a push-up.  The result…..I was able to do 1 mini push-up. I was sooo excited, before I couldn’t even think about using my arms to lower myself to the ground. My arms would buckle at the mere thought but on that day I lowered myself until I thought my arms were going to give out and then stayed there for a count of 5 and pushed myself up again. Pathetic…kinda but hey I am easy to please. Yippee

So I know I said I was planning a new challenge and what not but with all my housing issues I just haven’t had time. No challenge as of now. Maybe I will start it at the beginning of February, who knows.

Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism

Today is my last day working out with Jillian Michaels’ Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism DVD.  I have done this DVD 6 days a week (except for 1 week when I only did it 5 days) for 6 weeks and let me tell you I love this DVD. Each circuit kicks my butt and by the end I am almost huffing and puffing and dripping sweat, which is amazing since I am so not a sweater.

Thinking back on when I first started this DVD it was pretty pathetic. Yes I made it through but I damn near burst into tears numerous times. Compare that to now and it’s like day and night.  I am only doing modifications on one exercise and that is the burpees. My arms are still not strong enough to do a full on push-up. Frustrating but if you remember from my 2010 goals I plan on being able to do push-ups by the end of the year.

So this is a fare-well not a goodbye. I love this DVD too much to just throw it to the side. I’d recommend this DVD to anyone who wants a non-stop cardio blast.

Thoughts

Wow another big loss. I really don’t know where the weight is going but I am happy it’s leaving. I took off 2 days from exercising this week and I also didn’t track my meals very well. I still made sure I ate like I usually do but one day I did eat 2 huge slices of pizza and a few other things that I don’t normally ate. Maybe it’s because the workouts I did do were very tough. I put my all into every single workout. Either way I am happy. 250′s here I come!!!!

Friday: Friday was family night and we ate leftovers and played Twister. I am a beast at Twister now, I was the one to beat and only lost twice. For some reason I was extra nimble.  I did not workout Friday night by the time all the fun and games were over I was tired and it was late so all I wanted was my bed.

Saturday: Work. I made sure to bring my special K cereal so that is what I ate for breakfast and snack. I had a lean cuisine for lunch. Saturday night I did my 45 mins of exercise and then I met up with some friends and went to a sports bar named CHAMPIONS. Had a great Pom Sidecar. It had the right amount of alcohol and it had a great tangy bite to it. I wanted at least 2 more but I just stuck with my one. I also ordered some fried calamari and had 2 buffalo wings. My calamari was eh but the buffalo wings were great.

Sunday: Same thing as Saturday during the work hours. When I got home I took a nice nap. I was so exhausted from not being able to go to bed until 2:30am. When I woke up I ate a few pieces of pork spare rib. I wasn’t super hungry. My son and I went to the store and tried to get some fruit but my goodness it was all so expensive. We ended up walking out with only bananas and strawberries. My son is on a fresh fruit kick and he just about begged me to get some blueberries but the small box was almost $8 so that wasn’t happening. I ate a huge baked sweet potato for dinner and I was satisfied.

Today starts my last week of Jillian so I am sad but also kind of pumped. I am trying to figure out what will be my new exercise regimen for the next 6 weeks. I also will be starting a new challenge for anyone who is interested.

Good News

I no longer have high blood pressure! Yayyyyyy

Yesterday I went to see my doc after staying away too long. The first thing we did was get my weight. The scale was only 1 lb more than the one at home so that made me happy. Then we went onto my blood pressure. The past few times I have gone it has been high, not dangerously high but high nonetheless. So she’s going on blah blah blah and she’s like “so I have alot of patients opting for the Lap-Band”. Now I don’t get offended at anything so her throwing that out there didn’t offend me but it did piss me off.

**Now before I say what I have to say I am in no ways trying to belittle or disrespect anyone who is contemplating or has has Weight Loss Surgey. ***

I got somewhat pissed off when she mentioned that and I told her (well not the part about pissing me off) that thanks but no thanks. WLS for me in my mind is a cop out. Yes it has it’s own challenges and whatnot but for me nothing can compare to good ol’ hard work to achieve your goal. If something is handed to me nice and easy I am more prone to just go back to my old ways. At least I know that I will forever remember the grueling workouts, the tears after accomplishing a goal or just the fact that I lost weight from sheer will. That type of stuff stays with me. I don’t want it to be easy, I’d rather have it be hard. She just laughed after my whole little speech so I said ok enough about that…let’s take my blood pressure. She place the little thingy around my arm and lo and behold that 25 lbs I lost really made a difference. She said WOW, let me do that again. I let her and it had the same great outcome. I really wanted to jump for joy.  All my life I have always been in very good health. Even when I started packing on the pounds. Every time I went to the doc they always gave me rave reviews but the past year and a half my blood pressure has been steadily rising and that has been super scary.

After that she told me a little story about another docs patient that basically had the same outlook as I do who in a year went from obese to healthy and this past summer ran her first 5k. I was very happy she didn’t try to push the Lap-Band on me again.  After eveything else she wished me luck and said she can’t wait to see how much weight I have lost by the time I come back for my physical in April.

I am finally back on the exercise track and wow was it hard coming back after missing a few days. I mean I felt rested and all that good stuff but on Monday Jillian really kicked my booty. Yesterday was a bit better I was energized and I swear the workout went so quick that I was able to catch the last 10 mins of  THE BIGGEST LOSER.

The only thing that has fallen to the wayside is tracking my calories.  I need to get back on my tracking grind. Other than that it’s been a pretty good beginning of the week for me.

Before I leave I just have to say YAY for normal blood pressure once again. I so did not want to get on the pills!

Monday Weigh in/ Weekend Recap

Stats

Starting blog weight : 279

Last weeks weight: 269.5

This weeks weight: 266.5

Total lost this week: 3 lb loss

Thoughts

Yay 3 lb! I really am in shock. I always expect some type of loss but 3 lbs is truly amazing. I didn’t get to exercise 3 times this past week so I was pretty sure I was going to have a minimal loss.  Also 266.5…yea I cannot remember that last time I have seen 266 in the past 5 years. When I lost my weight a few years ago I only got to 269! Yay me.

Friday: Friday was supposed to be homemade pizza day but my step-son ended up going to his mothers house. Instead Tony made us (my son and I) some baked Fish (Cod and Pollock) & brussel sprouts.  It was so yummy and we don’t eat fish too often because my step-son is really allergic. He gets scratchy throat if he is in the same room as fish. My son loved it and asked for seconds. I promptly went to my exercise room (Which I now call Randi’s Exercise Pad on the Ave…..lol) and attempted to finish my exercise. That was not a good idea, all that jumping and running in place made me feel like I had to throw up. I did finish though, thank goodness for only having 15 mins to go.
Saturday: I had to wake up for work super early since I am now sharing my car with my mother. It’s such a pain in the neck. I ate pretty well. I bought a few packages of the jimmy dean’s d’lights breakfast sandwiches at Target so I had one of those for breakfast. One of my residents gave me some tea and some snack well cookies. For lunch I had veggie stir-fry with the teriyaki sauce on the side. I was asked to stay a few hours late and since I love money I said yes. I didn’t get out until almost 7:20pm. I had to go to target and to get my nails done. By the time I got home I was so tired. I ended up ordering some wonton soup and scallion pancakes for dinner. My son and I watched CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS and then DISTRICT 9. I was so tired that I didn’t even bother to exercise. I really hate exercising when tired because I do not put my all into it and to me if you are not going to work your hardest why bother.

Sunday: Work. Food consisted of Jimmy Deans D’light, a molasses cookie that was gross. I also had 1/2 muffin from dunkin’ donuts that a resident bought for me. For lunch I had a yummy turkey sandwich. I went to one of my BFF’s baby shower and first I was kinda freaked out because I knew there would be tons of food there but when I got there I didn’t really want much of anything. I ended up eating 4 Swedish meatballs and some macaroni salad. I also had a forkful of rice and beans. Oh and I had a piece of cake that was so utterly sweet it was kinda gross. The shower was fun and I did lots of running around. By the time I got home and made the boys wash up and get ready for bed, I was also ready for bed. i attempted to fold some clothes after they went to sleep but that did not work out. I ended up drinking a cup of hot apple cider and falling asleep.

All in all a great weekend with friends and family.
