<p>So um I know I&#8217;ve been M.I.A.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t really have an excuse. I&#8217;m kinda in a funk and pretty much don&#8217;t feel like blogging. I feel like I&#8217;ve lost my footing and right now I&#8217;m stumbling so I&#8217;m just trying to get back on track. I&#8217;ve been eating well and exercising (I actually woke up twice in one week @ 530am to get to a 6am class) but the scale is not showing. I feel like my body is idk reshaping itself but I don&#8217;t feel like I&#8217;m losing anything. It&#8217;s weird. Either way I am literally fighting against letting this get me down. Everyday I get up with a plan and I try to execute that plan as well as I can. I&#8217;m not focusing on anything other than trying to reach this goal.</p>
<p>With that being said. On top of my daily classes that I am attending I have found quite a few workout calendars to do while I am at home. I tend to have floor time with Xan in the evening when I get home so I figure instead of me just sitting with him on the floor I can incorporate some exercises. I should have posted these on the 1st for anyone who wanted to actually do them but laziness took over and here they are two days later. Better late than never right?</p>
<p>There are quite a few calendars on Pinterest and you can find them on my <a title="Randi on Pinterest" href="http://pinterest.com/randi617/work-out-home-free/" target="_blank">Work out @ Home Pinboard</a>. Here are the 2 that I am doing specifically:</p>

<p>Does anyone remember the song and dance <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZPQdZLyHYE" target="_blank">DA DIP</a> from the 90&#8242;s. So bad yet oh so hard not to get stuck in your head for an eternity! Anyways I decided to start getting my dip on! Tricep dips! two nights ago we were doing exercises with the boys (Actually I was just calling out exercises to them while I held the baby..but that is neither here nor there lol). I told my oldest to do dips on the couch and he had no clue what I was talking about so I had to hand off the baby and demonstrate. First lets say that I didn&#8217;t think I could do any because I have horrible upper body strength. Lo and behold I did 3. I surprised myself. Then I was outdone by my son who did 10. Thanks for showing your mom up kid!</p>
<p>Those 3 little dips sparked something in me. As I said I have almost no upper body strength and I am plagued with arm fat (yuck) so what better way to tone up and rid myself of the blasted arm fat than dips? Since 3 is my starting number I figured starting tomorrow (and every other day after) I will add 2 to my total amount. Hopefully by the end of the month I will be able to do 20. I wish I would have thought of this at the beginning of the month but I didn&#8217;t and there is no time like the present so yea I&#8217;m gonna start tomorrow.</p>
<p>Quick non-scale victory. I haven&#8217;t run since months before I became pregnant&#8230;so well over a year ago. Last night I went to Zumba and lets just say I thought I was in an old folks Zumba class. I didn&#8217;t even break a sweat and the class was packed. I swear when I started Zumba if I would have went to a class like this I don&#8217;t think I would love Zumba as much as I do now. I wanted to stand at the front of the class and tell them about my Zumba instructors! It&#8217;s funny at the beginning of glass a woman who does Mondays with me said &#8220;oh you are not going over there&#8221; meaning my regular zumba class. I said &#8220;no, I wanna try this one&#8221;. She looked me dead in the eye and said &#8220;Oh you are not gonna like this class. It&#8217;s very slow&#8221;. I told her I just wanted to try. Well at the end of class she came up to me and said &#8220;see! I told you. At Annie&#8217;s class we would be dripping sweat&#8221;. I should have listened to her.</p>
<p>Ugh I digress. So after the class (which ended 5 mins early) I walk outside to look for my ride and yea no one is there because it&#8217;s early. I call and say I&#8217;m walking up the street pick me up. Right when I was about to start walking I said hey! Maybe I should try to run. With that I zipped up my sweatshirt, tightened my water bottle. It was exactly 8pm. I started running. I felt ok. My legs didn&#8217;t hurt and while I was breathing fast I didn&#8217;t feel like I was going to pass out. I kept setting mini goals like to the next street, then the light pole or the Chinese food place (which smelled amazing and made me crave garlic noodles). Finally I said ok I&#8217;ll make it to the lights. Once I got there &#8216;ll admit i just stopped even though I probably could have gone a little bit farther. To my defense I at that time did feel like I would die. I called my ride to see where they were and looked at my watch to see the time. It said 8:04pm!</p>
<p>I said HOLY SHIT I just ran for 4 mins straight!</p>
<p>Seriously?</p>
<p>Hell yea!</p>
<p>It was amazing and made me feel so good. One of my bff&#8217;s and I are supposed to start running on the weekends to build up endurance so I was extremely happy to see I was at least doing just as well as I did the last time I did C25K.  Now I cannot wait to run again.</p>

<p>I exercised all week and took a break over the weekend. It was what my body needed. By Friday I was extra sore. I am happy to say that I gave the Zumba class at the other YMCA (the one I took last week with the off beat instructor) another chance. I was pouring sweat by the time I was done. I loved it. What is crazy is that the instructor said she was recovering from an injury so she wouldn&#8217;t go as fast&#8230;..well yea if that is her injured then I am scared when she&#8217;s 100%. I&#8217;m excited to go back. My eating went well even though this weekend I indulged in some amazing pizza and a late night chicken broccoli Alfredo food fest. Both things so worth it. I was a bit scared that I may have sabotaged myself but I guess being in beast mode all week works wonders.</p>
<p>This week I am going to start some body weight strength training. Sad to say your girl can&#8217;t even do one push-up. I can do about 5-8 girl push ups but that doesn&#8217;t work for me. I can do about 10 sit ups so I am hoping to double that number by the end of the month. It&#8217;s crazy because my boys (bf,sons (12 &amp; 11 yr olds) can all do push ups, sit ups, planks etc like nothing. My oldest can easily pump out 50 reg push ups and about 40 modified (one hand on a basketball) push ups. Tony is on a whole other level..he can easily do 100 push ups, sit ups etc. They are beasts! So I feel the need to get on their level!</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to do a little test to see what my starting numbers are for various body weight exercises and see if I can double my numbers in 30 days! This will be a task but I&#8217;m looking to become stronger as well as lose weight. I&#8217;ll post that info soon!</p>

<p>So yea I am super frustrated. I worked out all last week except for one day and I gain. When I stepped on the scale yesterday morning I really wanted to go office space (you know when they bashed the fax machine) on it. I was angry. BUT I had to remind myself that my clothes have been feeling looser so while I may not be loosing pounds my body is reshaping itself. Also I&#8217;ve had a few ppl comment on the fact that I am thinning out. Granted even with that I still was quite frustrated. I ate quite well but if I am being honest Friday and Saturday were horrible.</p>
<p>On Fridays we do family night at the local Y. It usually consists of us hitting the pool with the baby and the big boys hitting the pool and then the Basketball court. We were running late this Friday so we decided to forgo our usual Rotisserie chicken and just get pizza instead which was the first bad move. Second bad move was T letting the boys eat the rest of the pizza for breakfast so they had nothing for lunch. They call their grandpa and he bought them KFC. So while I didn&#8217;t have to eat the pizza or KFC it was there and I ate it. I also did a 30 min Zumba routine but apparently that just didn&#8217;t cancel out the 2 bad decisions. I&#8217;m over it now but damn I was kicking myself yesterday.</p>
<p>So funny story the reason why we were running late on Friday was I decided to try a new Zumba class. I&#8217;m trying to take full advantage of my YMCA membership. They no allow all of their members to use any YMCA facility in the MA,RI,CT area. That means tons of classes to choose from. I saw that there was a Zumba class at a Y close to my job that started right after I got out of work. I was excited all week. I rush over there and promptly get lost. The YMCA on Huntington Ave is the OLDEST YMCA and let me tell you that place is old and ENORMOUS.</p>
<p>Either way I get there and I am waiting with others for the teacher to arrive. She arrives and then as everyone is lining up she announces that she&#8217;s a sub and that the regular instructor is out due to a pulled muscle. I thought nothing of it. I was ready to start dancing! Then the music started&#8230;..then she started dancing. At first I thought ok she must just be trying to get her rhythm or maybe it&#8217;s a new song.</p>
<p>It was none of that!</p>
<p>This poor poor woman had ABSOLUTELY NO RHYTHM. She was too fast for the slow beat and too slow for the fast beat. It was so bad that at least 5 ppl walked out. I had to choice but to stay. My phone was dead and Tony wasn&#8217;t scheduled to pick me up until 7:20. So I had to deal with it. Now I&#8217;m not the best dancer in the world but I have no problem catching a beat. It got to the point that I was doing my own thing just to make sure I would break a sweat. When she used songs that my other instructors used, I did their choreography. I had some ppl following me. It was bad. I felt really bad at the end of the class because she was trying to get feedback and no one was giving her a straight answer. I told her it was fun. It&#8217;s not my place to tell her she needs to learn how to dance on beat.</p>
<p>Now I see how people can be turned off to things like Zumba. If that were my first class I would never do Zumba again in LIFE! I talked to some of the other people in the class and they assured me that the regular instructor was very very good and that I should come take her class. So I will try again this Friday.</p>
<p>I had plans to post two March challenges put I haven&#8217;t even started them yet so I&#8217;ll just do an April Challenge. What I will do tonight is take some new progress pictures AND some measurements. I&#8217;ve been slacking but I know from the last time that those two things can really make all the difference when the scales gives you numbers you do not want to see.</p>

<p>So I was M.I.A. last week. I was tired, the baby was sick, the big kids were on vacation. All in all it was a hectic week and every time I had inspiration to blog as soon as I would sit down to type&#8230;POOF! it disappeared. After it happened twice I decided to take a little break.<br />
Luckily I didn&#8217;t take that break in the health and fitness aspect of my life. The baby was ok the first few days of the week so I was able to hit up Zumba (it was a new class and I loved it) on Monday and Kick boxing on Tuesday. Wednesday the baby was horrible. He was Snotty and teething which basically made him unhappy. I picked him up 50 million things that contained Vicks to clear him up and stayed home with my baby. That continued until Saturday. He was still sick but I managed to get a good 30-40 mins of Zumba in by using some of my fave Zumba videos from youtube while he napped a few times during the day.</p>
<p>He’s a bit better now so I have a whole week of activities planned. Zumba Everyday except Tuesday which is reserved for Kickboxing. I found a great class at my local YMCA that is like a tamer version of Tae Bo. It&#8217;s great. Saturday I am scheduled for a run with one of my Bff&#8217;s and Sunday is a rest day before I start the week anew. I&#8217;m excited hopefully I can make this a weekly schedule and life would make sense.</p>
<p>Can&#8217;t wait for Zumba tonight!</p>

<p>So I am on week 5 of the 200 squats training program. Week 1-3 went off pretty much without a hitch. Then week 4 I fizzled out. Mainly because I was doing so many other things (Zumba, Boxing etc). I managed to do one day and I didn&#8217;t even stick to the training program I just wanted to see how many I go do consecutively. That number turned out to be somewhere in the 100&#8242;s (sorry can&#8217;t remember the exact number and too lazy to go back in my tweet history). That was awesome but then I fizzled out. I didn&#8217;t do the rest of the week.</p>
<p>I noticed that everyone I started doing the training program with had basically dropped out. Or at least no one was talking about it so I figured they were on the same boat. Then Monday I didn&#8217;t make it to Zumba (the horror&#8230;I was truly sad) but I wanted to at least move and get my heart rate up for a bit. I decided to do week five. Week five looks something like this</p>
<p>Set 1: 49</p>
<p>Set 2: 54</p>
<p>Set 3:40</p>
<p>Set 4: 32</p>
<p>Set 5 max: 80</p>
<p>It was tough. I tried to push past 80 for my max but I knew that meant that I would be ULTRA sore in the morning. Not wanting that I decided to stop at 80. That left my total for squats (I rested for 60 sec between each set) at 255! Hello. I was amped. So amped I almost woke up the baby when I clapped my self and said YES!. Never did I think I would do that many squats (HELLO NON-SCALE VICTORY), it&#8217;s quite amazing. I cannot wait for Tonight which is day 2 of week 5.</p>
<p>So far those squats are all I&#8217;ve gotten to do this week for exercise. Lat night I went right from work to Ikea (and 2 other stores) looking for a bed. Over the weekend as I sat on my bed my son comes over and sits his butt on it with and and CRASH the whole corner is now down on the ground. So my joint is lopsided. Do you know how hard it is to sleep on a lopsided bed. Let&#8217;s just say it&#8217;s not fun trying to keep yourself from rolling over and up and off the bed. By the time I got home I rushed around to get all the things ready for the baby to go to my moms house today and tried to get him to sleep. By the time he went to sleep my eyes couldn&#8217;t stay open so yea it was night night time. Tonight we go and pick up the bed and then come home to put it together. That should be fun!!!!!</p>
<p>On the food front I am currently IN LOVE with quinoa. I know, could I be anymore late? I&#8217;ve been meaning to purchase it since I saw it for cheap at PriceRite (which is like a discount grocery store). Finally I remember about two weeks ago and never did anything with it. One day last week I didn&#8217;t want to eat rice so I decided to make some quinoa. I seasoned it like I would my rice (onion powder, garlic, fresh cracked pepper and some turmeric) and OMG&#8230;Love at first taste. Even the kid loved it.</p>
<p>Then this week I really DID NOT want to put another spoonful of oatmeal in my mouth. Seriously the thought made me gag. So I remembered that I had seen breakfast quinoa on Pinterest (<a href="http://pinterest.com/randi617/" target="_blank">follow me</a> btw!!!). So I made quinoa before I left the house. Once I got to work I added a bit of 1% milk , brown sugar, cinnamon and some Plum Amazins (diced dried plums) and yes the food gods have struck once again. It was amazing and reminded me of Wheatena in the consistency. It kept me full until I ate lunch. I cannot wait to try other combinations. Now I just wish I could purchase a huge bag like I do rice.</p>

<p>Eh this will be short and sweet. I&#8217;m quite uninspired. Somethings got to give. I feel like I am doing tons but it&#8217;s still not enough. Half the time it&#8217;s all I can do to get through a work out. Xander still wakes up at least 2 times a night. Trying to get him out of it but the alternative is crying so yea I choose the road that allows me to get the most sleep. Also just life in general gets in the way. I swear I am forever battling a never ending pile of laundry or floors that need to be swept/washed.</p>
<p>Then my oldest is in his 1st year of middle school and has apparently LOST his damn mind. So it&#8217;s constant talks about what he needs to do versus what he wants to do. I feel like I&#8217;m just pulled in 50 million directions. I want to exercise and I do exercise but I am stuck between wanting to exercise more but then feeling bad because I am missing out on home time. I seriously cannot wait until it&#8217;s spring and I can get the whole family out and about. It&#8217;s much easier that way than having to steal away time.</p>
<p>Speaking of getting out as a family. My older boys and I went out for a  birthday gathering of my bff&#8217;s husband. It was at an ice skating rink. I don&#8217;t have any pictures of me skating because well I didn&#8217;t particularly trust either one of them to hold my cam and take a pic. With my luck that would have been when they fell and broke my cam&#8230;then yes all hell would have broken loose LOL. It was fun but so very cold!</p>

<p>So this past week I tried something new. I gathered 7 of my friends and we took a trial class at <a href="http://www.ringboxingclub.com/" target="_blank">THE RING BOXING CLUB</a>. It was a quick 45 min class where they showed you the 5 punches, ran through quick training with exercises and then some time practicing those punches on a punching bag.</p>
<p>1st of all WOW. Now I know why boxers are in such good shape. Boxing takes concentration, stamina and discipline. Just trying to remember to bring &amp;  keep my hands near my face was enough to piss me off half the time.  It was fun though and after 20 mins of punching bags my shoulders and arms were screaming. Who knew? Certainly not I.</p>
<p>After the class they gave a quick spiel and invited us for a week trial where we could take any of their classes. During our trial class on the other side of the gym they were conducting their 12 rounds class. Its described as such</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em>&#8220;Here is your chance to haul off and hit something. We have combined the components of a professional boxer’s workout with extreme fitness drills. You will burn more calories – up to 1,000 per hour – and build more muscle definition than any other workout in the shortest amount of time. Kiss your boring weights and cardio machines good-bye.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>It looked intense and of course as soon as they handed me my trial paper I immediately looked up when I could take it.  I am going back tomorrow and Thursday to partake in some serious hardcore exercising. It&#8217;s exciting and scary at the same time. I wish I had the money to get a membership but sadly it was too rich for my blood.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve determined to make this year great and part of that is trying new exercises and switching it up so I don&#8217;t get stuck in a rut.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m waiting for the picture they took at the gym of me to get posted on their FB page. Once it&#8217;s up I&#8217;ll take it onto this post. But until then here is a pic that I took with all my friends after the trial class.</p>
