Thoughts

I am officially back from vacation! First of all I am still super happy about yesterday. If you haven’t read my post check it out. Yesterday I ran a 15 min mile. I know that isn’t super fast but is was a great accomplishment for me because I didn’t even know I could run 1 full mile.

I stepped on the scale this morning to assess the damage and lo and behold I only gained 1.5 lbs. For all the crap we were eating that was great. I figured I wouldn’t gain too much since our main form of transportation our entire vacation was our legs. Yup we walked everywhere. We stayed in Atlantic City right on the boardwalk so we walked up and down it numerous times a day. Then the 2nd half of our vaca was spent in NYC. We were in a hotel in Jersey City and would leave early, head into Manhattan and stay out all day criss-crossing the city on foot & on the metro. Fun times. My boys loved all the sites and didn’t complain too much about all the walking.

Towards the end of the week my body was straight up rejecting all the food. We ate a bit better in NYC than we did in NJ. We were all craving fruits and veggies since that is how we eat normally. The boys especially were asking for fruit even though they loved being able to eat bugers and fries and pizza even they realized how much better fresh food made them feel. We also drank TONS of water. All in all it was a good vacation. I will do a picture post soon. I have to sort through the hundreds of pictures that were taken.

Now that vacation is over Tony and I have looked at the calendar and GASP we only have 4 weeks until Tony’s brothers wedding. We have both been pretty much at a stalemate as far as our weight so we have taken a pledge to workout hard and eat better for the next few weeks. Our motivator is the wedding but even after the wedding we plan on continuing with our pledge.

Tony rode his bike today since neither one of us woke up early enough to hit the gym this morning. When I dropped my son off at camp I saw that my Community Center is offering free Zumba Mon & Wed! I have already enlisted my mom to come and have hit up my Facebook (personal & fan page) to enlist some others.

I have also decided to join the Drop that 15lbs challenge hosted by Kimberly @ Living The Fit Life. This is a 60 day challenge with check ins every Monday. You can join whenever you like. Pop over to the site and check it out.

I’m so excited!!!

  • That’s not that bad for holiday weight! ;)

It’s amazing how much our bodies crave healthy food, particularly when we’re not getting much. Kind of cool.

    Good luck with the challenge!

  • Vacations are hard. 1.5 for a vacation actually isn’t bad. I know on my last road trip I gained 3. But it comes off fast because it’s a lot of sodium and crap from the food so once you eat normally you’ll be good to go!

    good luck with the challenge!
